Structural Testing and UAV Thrust Measurement

Component fatigue testing, proof loading, and UAV thrust measurement require multi-axis load data with traceable calibration. AXIOM sensors are factory-calibrated with full 6×6 cross-coupling compensation matrices, resolving the coupled loading that single-axis load cells report incorrectly when off-axis forces are present. The AXIOM-1000 and AXIOM-2000 cover the force ranges typical of small UAV thrust rigs (±1,000–2,000 N) and avionics assembly verification fixtures.

Precision Assembly and Robotic Handling

Satellite component alignment, avionics module insertion, and ordnance handling combine high value-at-risk with tight force margins. Force-controlled robotic insertion reduces the risk of damage from excessive contact force while producing a force-displacement record for each assembly operation. Temperature compensation and a -20 °C to +60 °C operating range keep calibration valid across hangar, cleanroom, and field conditions without recalibration between environments.

Challenges

  • Aerospace structural tests apply combined axial and bending loads simultaneously; single-axis load cells report cross-talk as part of the measured signal, corrupting the force-displacement record.
  • High-value assembly operations (satellite optics, avionics modules) require per-operation force records for program documentation — a requirement that post-hoc position logs cannot satisfy.
  • EMI-dense test environments (radar, high-power RF) couple noise into long analog signal chains; onboard digitization keeps the analog path short and reduces susceptibility.

Outcomes

  • 6×6 cross-coupling calibration produces a traceable multi-axis load record for each test operation, satisfying documentation requirements without post-processing.
  • Short analog signal path with onboard digitization reduces EMI susceptibility in RF-dense test environments compared to analog-output sensors with long cable runs.
